Exotic Animals

We are tremendously fond of all animals here at Skylark Vets, but Charlotte is particularly passionate about exotic species.  Many vets do not enjoy treating the colourful menagerie of feathered, scaled and furred animals that constitutes exotic species, but we can’t get enough of them here!

The term ‘exotic animal’ is liberally applied in the veterinary field. It is used for any animal that, if left to its own devices, could and would return to a wild state.  Rabbits have been removed from this list, and are now classed as companion animals, as are dogs and cats.

This leaves an enormous number of species in the cleft between companion and farm animals (including equids), and that is where we come in.

We are very happy to see birds, reptiles and small mammals of all shapes and sizes.  We are also willing to see fish and invertebrates, although wholly accept that these species fall outside of our usual expertise bracket.
