Information Sheets

Knowing the facts

On this page you can find information sheets relating to various maladies in a variety of species including:-

rabbits and rodents
dogs and cats

We have tried to list some common veterinary medical conditions by species, that your pet may have been diagnosed with.  Please note that this is not a comprehensive list by any stretch of the imagination! This page will be up-dated as and when we have written the articles. If you have a question about a particular condition, please do not hesitate to contact us about it. We will try to get more information to you as soon as we can!

You can also check our fact sheet page, which has information on a wide range of conditions in dogs and cats, as well as more limited information on small mammals.

We know it can be a shock…

It can often be very distressing when your pet becomes ill and is diagnosed with an unexpected (or expected) condition. At these times, we at Skylark Vets are very aware that it can be extremely difficult to focus on what they vet or nurse is describing or explaining. Even when you are paying the greatest attention, it is easy to overlook or to forget various pieces of information. We are always happy to talk to you about your pet’s condition and to try to guide you through the diagnosis or treatment process. However, to help you to digest and understand some of the more commonly diagnosed conditions, we have tried to make a helpful reference text for each.

Our reference sheets include some basic information about the medical condition, how if affects your pet, whether it could also affect you, how the condition is diagnosed and how it is treated. Our articles are all available as PDFs so that you can download and print them if you wish to, allowing you to absorb the information at your own pace.

We are also now able to offer a variety of peer-reviewed information sheets in a variety of species, thanks to Vet Help Direct. Please click here to access these.
